Ongoing East Bay Anti-War Events

SUNDAYS, 3 P.M., Oakland: Lake Merritt Neighbors Organized for Peace started having regular antiwar walks around Lake Merritt just before the Gulf War began. Now into it's third war in a decade, LMNOP meets every Sunday at the colonnade between Grand & Lakeshore Avenues in Oakland for a 3-mile walk around the lake, "come hell or high water, rain or shine." The LMNOP walks are posted on the sf.indymedia calendar.

Walnut Creek: Two veteran LMNOP peace walkers are going to start an ongoing Sunday walk and/or vigil in the Walnut Creek area soon. Check the LMNOP web-site for an announcement about this in the near future. There will also be an announcement posted at sf.indymedia once the time & place is determined.

WEDNESDAYS, 7:30 P.M.: Starts at North Berkeley BART station. A peace walk and vigil to demonstrate opposition to U.S. bombing of Afghanistan. Ends at MLK Civic Center Park.
