No new war in Somalia!</b></p>
<p>Wednesday, January 30 @ 6 pm<br>
Union Square Theater: 13th St. and Broadway, NYC<b></b>
<p>This movie is a blatantly racist attempt to create support among the U.S. public
for a new war against Somalia. According to the Bush Administration, Somalia is
at the top of the Pentagon's list of countries to be the next major target of
the so-called "war against terrorism."</p>
<p>In his review of "Black Hawk Down," New York Times movie reviewer
Elvis Mitchell wrote that the movie "converts the Somalis into a pack of
snarling dark-skinned beasts … it reeks of glumly staged racism."</p>
<p>All those who believe in justice for the people of the world must take a stand
against U.S. threats against Somalia, Sudan, the Philippines, Iraq</p>

yeah. since the Int'l ANSWER rallies are all scripted anyway, with the protesters, their managers, and the cops all having a specific role to play, we know what's going to happen already, don't we?

publicly protesting these flagrant violations of any semblance of democracy that exists in this country is an important gesture, one that would be significant if it were absent. when, however, are there going to be more efforts at orgnizing on a daily basis, against the daily injustices of capitalism? where's the energy for working with already existing community organizations that, even if they're not "revolutionary", have a knack for galvanizing and mobilizing tons of local folks, instead of the energy for these huge protests that everyone is just so proud they went to?

the cops are going to be fucking belligerent. of course. and there will be some arrests and perhaps some street battles. the unglamorous work, however, will move us further forwards, especially when it seems so ignored in the anti-corporate globalization protest lifestyle, oops, movement...
