Sept 10: Strange Cancellation of Plans

With this advanced knowledge by the highest levels of government, plus all the other information on many websites, it should be obvious by now that Sept. 11 was a Reichstag Fire perpetrated by the military and the CIA to promote fascism at home and blood for oil wars abroad. This is the realization of the CIA's proposed plan, Operation Northwood, to frame Cuba, which was never carried out. There is enough information circulating the internet to show that the planes had no hijackers on board as their names were not on the passenger lists. The planes were probably driven by remote control from the ground. We have yet to hear the black box recordings or the recordings, if any, of the alleged cell phone calls by passengers to friends and family. These phone calls could easily be contrived or have been made by CIA doubles. The twin towers were probably destroyed by construction demolition experts, falling into their own footprint, with the South Tower, hit second, collapsing before the first tower, the North Tower, to cover up for an imperfect hit, which allowed the fuel to spill outside the tower, thus proving that it was not the hot fuel that caused the towers to collapse and in fact firefighters have stated that they heard construction demolition-type explosions inside as they ran from the collapsing buildings. The towers were built to withstand an airplane crash and the hot fuel story was the cover. Nothing is too horrible for election fraud Bush, including abusing the black vote to commit election fraud and that was done across the nation. He is now proudly showing his fascist, pro-war, pro-death penalty, anti-social services, anti-abortion, anti-environmental, ant-immigrant and above all, anti-labor colors. The Enron scandal shows his administration is simply the extended Board of Directors of Enron, a speculative racket and probably a money-laundering scheme for the CIA's drug money. George War Bush was a "C" student in college only because he had a rich father; otherwise his average would have been an "F". His drug addiction to cocaine and alcohol are well known. This is the so-called leadership of this country, a society that is literally rotting on its feet. Bush does not act alone, of course; he is and always has been of, by and for the ruling capitalist class. The answer to this whole horror show must be a labor movement, now.

We don't need to leap to hysterical conspiracy theories to prove that the US Government is as corrupt as they come. They have done and are doing unspeakable things, but your case is flimsy here. Al Qaeda does exist and they are very capable of orchestrating large-scale attacks. I want radicals to deal with THIS reality (mush more complex than what you are suggesting.) It's just too easy to comply with a conspiracy theory like yours...then we don't really have to think at all...

Per Cockburn and Chomsky: it's not the secret conspiracies we should focus on, it's the ones right in front of our eyes, like IMF machinations and U.S. human rights atrocities. The idea that all these officials cancelled their travel plans because of advance word of 9/11 is beyond dopey. THERE'S NO WAY ALL THESE PEOPLE COULD KEEP IT A SECRET BEFORE OR AFTER!!!! SHEESH!!!
The real issues are the policies that contributed to the 9/11 blowback, not the secret meetings in Dick Cheney's bunker or whatever.
If anyone else out there is prone to these types of conspiracy theories (like the JFK nonsense), it's a sign that your left politics are insufficiently developed.
It's back to the library for you cadres to bone up on your Luxembourg, Goldman, Bakunin, Chomsky, Gramsci, Ehrenreich, Marcuse, Kautsky, Biafra.
All anarchists and council communists must be fully versed in revolutionary theory and must be prepared to integrate it into their practice, so they can ward off the dual evils of left conspiracy mongering and Larxist-Meninist reductionism.
If you want to know what will happen to you if you do not follow this advice, take a look at Justice's e-mails. This poor s.o.b's brains turned to sectarian mush a long time ago. There probably wasn't much there to begin with, so it's not a great loss.
c'mon! it's one thing to say that whoever pulled off the WTC attack pulled off a conspiracy in the sense that they planned. but to say therefore that it's equally believable that US intelligence agencies -- on a rather large scale -- conspired to see to it that the US was hit is a sleight-of-hand argument.
this whole unfolding drama is complex. that's one thing that's clear. it's not clear to what degree US geo-political considerations factored in. Is a pipeline through Afghanistan likely anytime soon what with all the instability? Where does the new governments allegiances really lie? With Russia? With the US?
With Iran? All three?
to Ryan i'd say that while there may be a conspiracy involved in all this, conspiracy theory per se isn't radical.
He was an exemplary proponent of propaganda of the deed, as Cockburn has argued. By assassinating JFK, Oswald insured passage of the Civil Rights Act. He did as much for racial justice as the SNCC did and should be recognized for this achievement. The idea that he was working on behalf of others is a slander on him.
Kennedy supported the Vietnam War and would have escalated it. The military had nothing to gain by shooting him.
If we "proved" that there was a conspiracy to kill JFK, what is it that we have actually demonstrated? That the military/CIA have too much power? We knew that. That the Mob corrupted the unions and the urban political machines? Not a surprise. That democracy in the U.S. is a sham? No revelation there.
If you check the footnote trails and the primary sources of the JFK conspiracy mongers, you'll notice that their research is all sloppy and self-aggrandizing.
If advocates of conspiracy re JFK, 9/11, etc., were to spend a fraction of their time looking at the so-called conspiracies right in front of their eyes, they would be making a more helpful contribution to a better world.
The great decisions are made in public, not private. The IMF cheerfully tells anyone who will listen that it is undermining democracy on behalf of the master investor class. It is ruling class ideology, if you will, that hides the truth from people, including very often, as Chomsky reminds us, the very people who are making and "reporting" the news.
The paricipants in the Manhattan Project kept the secret because the press and others openly and cheerfully helped out, all the while talking it up among themselves. Any discerning person who read the papers, listened to the news, etc., could pick up on it, and many did. The Nazis knew all about it. The science itself was not a secret. The Nazis just couldn't implement the technology in time.
Like many institutions, the intelligence/miliary apparatus in this country is far too riddled with competing factions and agendas (as a previous poster noted) for a secret like 9/11 to remain a secret among large numbers of people for very long.
There ARE secret conspiracies but they are more often than not ineffectual.
Evidence is theory applied, tested and refined. And on the basis of the evidence, the theory that there was a massive 9/11 "sick out" by U.S. officials is nonsense. The truth is far more frightening.
I agree with the general sweep of what you say about conspiracy theory. However, of late, I've noticed that there's a tendency to deride as conspiratorial thinking any theory that as much as suggests that the US ruling class plans.
Everything is fucking up in the air right now. Nobody really knows what's exactly happening or why. This system runs on obscurity. One thing is clear: capitalism is in crisis.
Hunt down all the secret cabals and conspiracies you like; and I'm sure you can argue me under the table; and maybe you're even right. But I don't think it gets you anywhere. You could better spend your time educating people about the way Rumsfeld, Enron, etc. snooker people in broad daylight.
If the JFK assassination was a coup, it was the most counterproductive coup ever. The civil rights movement, and thus the left, were greatly empowered. The invasion of Vietnam spun wildly out of control, prompting a fierce domestic backlash against militarism. And you haven't addressed the argument that Oswald was a deft practitioner of propaganda of the deed.

Taking #2 first, I would say that it is partly strategic to spread doubt about the official story. Surely, we all know that the official story is not the correct story ... we just disagree as to what degree the story is incorrect.
I will say that there is a racism in the conspiracy theories, and it is imperative that theorists look at their own racism and US-centrism. Repeat: other people in the world hate the U.S. for all the reasons that you know, and they are competent enough to pull off S11. Period. Numerous terrorist attacks have taken place against the U.S., which have successfully attacked the impressive imperial U.S. military machine. From this perspective, it is *not* strategic to be an imperial pig!
As for #1 ... without a doubt, anyone who thinks that members of the U.S. intelligence community have not thought to infiltrate a group like al Qaeda and push for a plan like this, with helpful assistance from seemingly random CIA-sponsored missions, is kidding themselves. Also remember that the literal *madmen* who ran this country in the 50s and 60s and early 70s are all back in office, and without a doubt they fixed a national election to get there through every legal and illegal means possible. Do you remember what these people did to Cambodia? Vietnam? ETC. The Bush Family, in particular, is known to start brutal wars on a whim. Hello, remember?? Do you think these people really truly care about random American lives? Do you really feel that your status as an American makes you more worthy than Panamanians, Palestinians or whoever in the eyes of the capitalist elite?? If so, you are living in a imperially racist fantasyland. Repeat: no one gives a fuck about you and they don't even care if you are murdered in cold blood.
That being said, I do not think that the conspiracy theories are correct or incorrect. I think occam's razor says that the official story is probably close to the truth, and that the US as a whole was caught off guard by a major terrorist attack with enormous symbolic meaning, which could shake the capitalist economic system to its core (only time will tell). Same with the conspiracy theories --- only time will tell. Details will become more available as time goes on and conspiracy obsessives can compile and digest all the information they have.
