so the pic is apparently accurate.

but pray tell how is that a violation of their human rights?

Jon, Jon, Jon. How many times now has your naive and judgemental bias been exposed on this site? Countless times, really.

Their rights are denied because they are not being treated as "prisoners of war" --- which they clearly are. What is a "battlefield detainee"? You do understand that these people are *innocent*, and god only knows how many of these people were really caught on a "battlefield" as opposed to just being rounded up.

Furthermore, human rights advocates were wary about these pictures, since the unconventional "gear" these people are being forced to wear (especially given the U.S.'s recent consideration of "torture") raises a lot of questions, and only the Pentagon has the answers. And most people realize that they like. That is, most people ... not jackasses like you. Have a nice day!

It doesn't look like a Carribbean vacation but they are doing better than US prisoners on lock-down in super-max facilities. They are getting better food, received Korans, etc. They are definately being treated better than prisoners on the rest of the island under Castro that's for damn sure. All things considered these guys don't have it that bad. If they were back in Afghanistan to face "justice" they would have had their nuts cut off by now.

Al Queda are not "prisoners of war" because they are not members of the armed forces of any state, they are terrorists. I don't think the UK considers IRA people in prison "prisoners of war" ditto with ETA members in Spain, etc.

I saw the picture of the so-called abuse to the detainees. My question is WHERE is the abuse??? They are on their knees (something a police officer would do) for safety reasons. They are blindfolded so they have no idea as to where they are or where they may plot to go. This is for the safety of them as well as the guards. They have their masks on their face (not gas masks as someone else mentioned) to reduce the risk of teburculosis (unsure of the spelling). One detainee has already been confirmed of his having TB. Why should the rest of the detainees and guards have to attract it also?
The Marines, Soldiers, and Sailors located in Camp X-Ray are doing an outstanding job and should recognized as such!
