ROBBER BARONS
From the book "Restoring the American Dream" by Robert J. Ringer.
"The real robber barons are those power-hungry bureaucrats and envious collectivists who would rob you of your property, your freedom and your self-esteem. What these robber barons desire is for you to relinquish your individuality and deliver control of your life into their hands, having faith that their "superior" standard of ethics will protect you from the temptation to pursue your own well-being."

It does not exist on an indivudualist basis. I can want all things to be mine, I may even believe all things to be rightly mine, but unless the other people around me agree to this vision of reality, no "ownership" exists. It is not deeds of record, not bills of sale, not even justice that matters here -- I can write documents too. I can claim the Moon, and if other people agree, then they may pay me for the use of its light. Property isn't a "thing", it's an agreement between humans.
Judith, if those around you, by their collective will, decide to no longer recognize the relationship, no longer consider this social construct useful to them, then what has happened is not that somebody has taken away your property but that they caused it to cease to exist. It's something that existed in the first place onl;y by their mutual consent -- consent that they don't HAVE to provide.
