Chasing Camels in Afghanistan
The US Marines thought a camel was a vehicle and shot it. As you read the dialogue in the article, try to imagine the scene of some gung-ho 18-year-old who believes the government propaganda of defending US freedom, shooting that camel. See:

This reminds me of Charlie Chaplin in "The Gold Rush" where he and another starving gold miner are sitting in their miserable shack stuck in a snowstorm trying to figure out how they are going to get food. The large miner starts hallucinating and imagines little Charlie as a chicken whom he proceeds to chase. Chaplin as usual does a hilarious act to insist he is a human.
Here is the dialogue:
"How come you can't tell a vehicle from a camel?" asked one Marine in a company control center, a hole in the sand.
"One has wheels, the other has legs," another Marine threw in. "I can't believe we're chasing damn camels around the desert," said another."

so later that morning around 10 i arrived at the private restricted no hunting area where i purchase written right to target shoot. there along the treeline tucked deep in the closed valley high in the branches were three new treestands built of glistening new lumber, illegally. taking a back route on four wheelers they had cut the distant fence and setup camp. breaking many many laws. turning off the truck and dropping the tailgate i faced the stands some thirty yards away. new mossberg and winchester long barrel pump shotguns, 3030 lever action, multiple make and caliber handguns, colt r6721. for one hour i focused on where fine hewn lumber met fine hewn lumber. not a board remained in a tree and not a tree was worsened per my endeavor. True story.
shooting stuff is cool. unless its meaty. shooting meaty stuff is never cool. i havent seen any camels in afghanistan yet. but im HOUSEBOUND !! so i have a excuse, huh ?
