A simple guy supports US action

In a neighborhood park of white working class kids in mid spring 1977 a fight occured between two boys. Jimmy a 14 year old new kid at the park and Danny a 15 year old well known park regular.
A boy named Kenny who was 16, hated Danny and paid Jimmy $10 to start the fight. Danny was unaware the deal had been made, was sitting on the ground under the pavillion when Jimmy approached him. Quickly a argument started by Jimmy alerted Danny that a fight was being started. Before Jimmy could work up the courage Danny stood up and suprised Jimmy with a fist to the center of his face. For two hours they fought. Many times Danny restrained Jimmy and offered him an out. Many times Jimmy accepted to then restart the fight. Finally it stopped when Dannys face was shoved into a bench corner temporarily damaging his vision. Danny had stopped fighting and was walking away when Jimmy attacked this last time.
Within a month Danny was dating Kennys dreamgirl. Within two months Danny took away Kennys joint and small bag selling business. Kenny avoided any scene where Danny may be or arrive. Within three months Jimmy and Danny began a friendship. Within six months they were best friends. Never again would anyone from the neighborhood threaten to start a fight with Danny.
Late summer night in a hotel parking lot in 1979, a few teenage boys are gathered talking, smoking, breathing the cool air outside a party going on inside one of the rooms. Danny has been invited by the girl having the party, Claudia. Claudia has enlisted a friend who Danny does not know to beat Danny up. The plan is to wait untill Danny is very drunk and stoned. To this end claudia has purchased a gallon of Jack Daniels black and an ounce of sensi.
Standing talking to some guys Danny is extremely drunk and stoned and happy. A stranger he has never seen walks up and says, \"Are you Danny?\". \"Yes\", Danny replies. The stranger wearing a pair of brass knuckles turns from way back and with one punch to the center of Dannys face, knocks Danny out. When Danny comes to hes laying in a large pool of blood, nearly blind. Both lips, both openings in his nose are bleeding profusely. Both eyes were swollen nearly shut. While Danny was unconcious the stranger had kicked Danny several times in the face. Drunk and disoriented, beaten and hardly able to see Danny walked the three miles home. For weeks he recovers from his injuries. To this day he occasionally experiences pain related to those injuries, 20+ years later. (Soon after, Danny enrolls in night school. To his suprise so does the stranger who attacked him. When the stranger is pointed out to Danny one night between classes, the stranger runs to his car and never returns to night school.)

So why was it people didnt like Danny to the extent that they would hire others to beat him ?
In the case of Kenny it seems Dannys popularity among all the girls in the neighborhood drove Kenny crazy. To Kenny it seemed even single girls would not see him because they didnt want Danny to see. Danny seemed to be dating every girl in the neighborhood at once. On top of that Danny was \"scoring\" with them all. Kenny didnt have the courage or fortitude to fight Danny himself so he hired someone who had something to prove, the new kid.
Dannys response to Kennys action was to, Hurry up and see all the girls he heard Kenny liked. One especially named Paula who Kenny swooned over more than any other. Having slept with them all Danny felt he had retaliated partly. Danny then wedged around Kenny to take most favored spot with the guys who fronted quarter pounds. Joints nickles dimes quarters halfs ounces, 1977-1980 Danny was the guy to see.
In the case of Claudia it was because Danny would not be her boyfriend. The boy she hired to beat Danny was in love with her and she would not date him. She could not see herself without Danny and she could not see Danny with anyone else. Danny had to pay for her frustration.
Dannys response to Claudias actions were none. Although the actual attacker forfeited his right to attend the only night school facility available, Danny had no real part in that resulting punishment. All Danny did was look him in the eyes one time in the hallway of the school.
In 1995 Danny bought his daughter a car and then installed a booming stereo in it.
6 months later a mtv wannabe L.A. gangsta working class white punk 18 year old boy attempted to steal the stereo. Dannys daughter caught and fought off the boy untill he pulled a gun and pointed it at her face point blank. A neighbor seeing this calls 911 and yells out her window scaring the boy off. No one is hurt. For the next three months Danny tracks and investigates this boy untill this boys every move is predictable. In this period of covert information gathering Danny uses nearly any means possible to find any illegalities in the boys life. Finding more than enough proof and evidence of federal crimes violations by this boy, Danny turns the investigation over to the proper authorities. Many years later this boy is still in federal prison.

Violence and terrorism are not new issues in my life. Early examples and late examples I\'ve shown here. To some they may seem trivial, to some not at all.
Responding incorrectly and correctly to violence isnt new either.
How ignorant a child I was to use sex so flippently. Being a hetero cutesy tall clean athletic long haired wild eyed boy in the mid 70\'s in suburbia before aids did that though.
And taking away another boys drug trade. Moronic ignorance. But it was never about sales. It was about ganja, consumption. (Those pesky 70\'s. Selling meant only smoking free.)
And walking away without an attempt at retaliation was done also. Then look how natural forces retaliated for me there. Without I had to lift a finger.
And full tilt in your face automated hands on technological long burn. No hairs harmed.
I\'ve also inadvertantly made myself a target by coming to the defense of others who have been the victims of violent crimes.

So when I saw the attacks of Sept 11th, my microscopic understanding of the events of that morning was of fists coming at my face. For whatever reason or hire or whatever they were pointed at my nose, my mouth, my eyes, my head. Fist and feet and brass knuckles busting me open to bleed me. And working. And guns were pointed at my family. Weapons of quick death aimed to do them harm. And working. My simple understanding is accurate to me. Ive stood within the walls of the once World trade Center in NYC. I\'ve been there and touched it. Ive seen and touched the buildings and monuments in Washington DC. The reality of the faces Ive seen in these places smiling and grimacing and just like me is my reality. Even the lonely fields I know. I could have realistically been the dead at any of these scenes. This is personal to me.
My response to this is without agenda. I had no dukes up for this fight nor any knowledge of the sucker punch coming. My response is to find and make extinct the group that brought the attack and the knowing supporters of the group that made it happen. I\'m 40. The US military isnt going to take me if I try to enroll. Plus with my 9th grade education I would need years of schooling to gain the basic skills they require to consider me. So me going to fight osamatalibanalqada isnt going to happen. As a result, I fully support US action against this enemy. War means many horrible things to many people. War is evil and awful and wicked and horrible. War is a festering murderous sickness on the heart of humanity.
I will not cannot linger on the thousands of dead Innocent Americans and citizens from 80 other countrys who died here. I dont want to see a list of names or album of pictures. I dont want to go to ground zero or hear patriotic hymns. I dont own a flag and I dont want to beat up or harass middle easterners. I dont want to read the bios of all mine that were killed. By mine I mean Here where I am. I am American by birth and then choice. Mine here in America. My Americans. I cannot linger over them. So I will not linger over theirs. Evil awful angry murderous vicious though it is.
