Madeleine Albright’s - The Price (Death of 500,000 Iraqi Babies) Is Worth It - Quote:

The following exchange occurred in a 60 Minutes segment (airdate May 12, 1996):
CBS Reporter Lesley Stahl (speaking of post-war sanctions against Iraq):
We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And - and you know, is the price worth it?
Madeleine Albright (at that time, US Ambassador to the UN):
I think this is a very hard choice, but the price - we think the price is worth it.

We think the price is worth it - Video and sound (1.2MB):

I'm thinking we need to *start* the war on Iraq. Yes, economic sanctions kill babies, but it is Sadaam's call. Do you think he cares if millions of his people die ? Of course not, he kills his own people. Why should we care ?

When it comes down to it, who is more likely to mail me some anthrax ? Bin Laden, living in a cave ? or Sadaam, who has several bio-weapons plants, none of which anyone (U.N.) has inspected in 3 years. . . ? Who is more capable of funding terrorist networks ?

I caught a show on pbs last night, that completely scared the bejeebus out of me. I will try to relay, bare in mind, I carry 0 credibility.

Sadaam, is pure evil, and worst of all he is smart. He has outwitted the CIA in many operations. He knows who will betray him. . .before they even betray him. Immediately following the made-for-tv war, known as "operation: Dessert Storm", the u.s. military encouraged a rebel uprising in Iraq, only to back out in the last minute. Many Iraqi's, fleeing women, children and Kurdish rebels massacred by Sadaam, while U.S. fighters and bombers observe from the peanut gallery having been given strict orders "to not interfere".

Then under the Bill 'depends on what you mean by "blow-job"' Clinton administration, an uprising was orchestrated by the CIA and INC (Iraqi National Congress). It was about to go down, and guess what. . .yep. U.S. gets cold feet again. Sadaam massacres 100's of thou.

[aside]Here is the fundamental problem (my speculation based on interpretations of my observations, aka opinion). The U.S. government *hates* any uprising / rumbling / disturbance in the middle east. They would prefer that the mother of all tyrants, be running the country, as long as he suppresses dissent and keeps "order" there. If he steps out of his borders that the Brits drew in the sand, then he is screwed. That is why the government backs the Saudi regime among other oppressive governments. When CNN says "Saudi Arabia supports the war on Terror" that can be easily heard as "The ruling family of Saudi Arabia, who are in the big oil business w/ associates of pres, and veep, could not care less what dubya does, as long as the oil continues to pump". Just as it is here, the Saudi govt does not represent the people, but rather the opinion of a few.[end aside]

Cut to a recently defected Iraqi, nuclear scientist who claims that Sadaam is a few months from sitting on a functioning nuclear device. So what scares you more ? A few crazies flying planes into buildings, or satan with a nuke ?

I don't see good things in the future. The U.S. government needs to re-evaluate its priorities. It's reactionary scape-goating of the most vocal anti-American, has turned the focus away from the most dangerous anti-American.

I have much regard for human life, but would I sacrafice the lives of a few million Iraqis to ensure the lives of a few billion non-Iraqis ? in a nano-second.

So end the war on Terror !
Drop the bomb on Sadaam !

Look, what is NOT reported by PBS/CBS/NBC/ABC but what you will find in foreign media and independent media is that the US Government, especially the Bush Family, has ALWAYS worked hand-in-hand with Saddam Hussein. Two weeks before Iraq invaded Kuwait, a US state department delegation gave him the "go ahead" for that .. indicating that the US would not retaliate. Of course, we screwed him and we got the Gulf War out of it, which is more bucks for the Bush family.

In the 80s, under Reagan, Saddam was openly our best friend.

In the 90s, he is still our best friend, even though the massive sanctions against him is designed to destabilize his ability to become an economic powerhouse.

In the end, it is petty games between rich powerful people who dont give a fuck about the people they are hurting. This includes Saddam Hussein and George Bush, who are equal partners in this disgusting crime(s) against humanity.
