$1billion to Pakistan since 9.11

by Slacker65
Since the tragedy on Sept. 11, 2001, the U.S. gov't has dedicated over $1 billion in aid to Pakistan. Another despot funded with your taxes!

Recession is hitting the U.S. hard, but apparently we still have plenty of money to fund military dictators. In the article by the Associated Press on Nov. 7, 2001, we discover that:

'...Since Pakistan decided to back the U.S. anti-terror campaign following the Sept. 11 attacks, U.S. links with Pakistan have undergone a dramatic increase, with American pledges of more than $1 billion in direct or indirect aid.

Before the attacks, the aid relationship was minimal because of U.S. sanctions, many of which have since been lifted.

Among other initiatives, U.S. government agencies are working on a border control project "to help the Pakistani government's capabilities in monitoring smuggling activity across the border," Chamberlin said.

An administration official said Congress has provided $73 million for this purpose. The official, asking not to be identified, said the funds will be used for rotary and fixed wing aircraft, sensors, communications and night vision equipment and training.'1

Meanwhile in America, massive layoffs continue and benefits programs are slashed. Where does the U.S. government come up with the money to fund these dictators? That's right: your hard-earned tax dollars. So instead of new books for your child's classroom, we'll buy some really sophisticated spy equipment for Pakistan. Sounds good to me...

Oh yes, and that $40 billion for U.S. spy agencies...where did that come from? Same place! Taxes! And don't you feel safer already, knowing that the government can now wiretap you everywhere you go? And hey, what's a little secretive search every now and then? We don't want to notify anyone in advance that we're going to search their houses, now, do we?

So keep shopping, be afraid, and support the New World Order. We need all the cannon-fodder and mindless drones we can get. Big Brother will watch over you and make it everything alright.

The U.S. government previously supported the dictatorships of the Shah of Iran, Manuel Noriega, Saddam Hussein, and countless others. It should come as no surprise that the mistakes of the past are being repeated. They have yet to learn from their previous blunders. It seems the old adage is true: 'the more things change, the more they stay the same'. 2

The bombing campaign costs around 1 billion dollars a day.
<sarcasm>Aren't you glad our tax dollars fund productive pursuits like the bombing of one the poorest country on earth?</sarcasm>
