hate feeds hate, breeds hate, feeds hate, breeds hate

Well, I know of at least one bomb that would wipe out all terrorists. Only thing is, it'd take out everyone else too. Maybe we should turn Afghanistan into a sheet of glass just to see if anyone notices.
by Ryan
Bombs, diplomacy, economic pressures, legal efforts, coalition of free nations, surgical commando strikes, education and aid all help wipe out the terrorists.

But, yes, bombs are a necessary ingredient.

bombing a terrorist base in the middle of a town or city will definately kill the terrorist, but also just about everybody else in the area. killing citizens will breed a lot of hate (even afghan haters) against america and their technique. a sergical land assault would have been almost as effective with minimal citezen casualties, but the more non-combatenants you kill, the more others will hate you, thus, breeding a hell of a lot of new terrorists against anybody who supports america. who knows? maybe canada is next. or maybe australia. but definately, america is in for another pounding of a lifetime.
truck + bombs/gasoline barrels = big boom!
anybody see what i'm saying?
with whats happening, i wouldn't be supprised if the new terrorists are leagal immagrants, or home grown high-school students...maybe that's a little bit too far...

when innocent Americans are killed it is a "terroristical force of evilnesstude, committed by evil-doers, who live in shadows"

but when Afghani women and children are killed it is "collateral damage".

is the word "terrorism" defined by what you are aiming at ?

by Craig (craiggy [at] uclink4.berkeley.edu)
For one, I am just absolutly amazed that a) the president of the US has the unmitiigated audasity to actually declare a 'war' on terrorism itself. Amazing! Could we choose a more nebulous target? Oh, he did . . . I think at some point he may have also declared war on 'evil' as well.

Ok, well a big part of the danger in declaring war on such an ill-defined target is nestled inside this question: When do we decide the war is over? When will we have defeated terrorism? Has that goal been specifically outlined? Not that I'm aware of. The fact that there is no clearly defined stopping point certainly gives our esteemed leaders an awefully scary amount of freedom to extend the boundaries of this war to whatever suits thier whims.

Should we really beleive that this war will be considered over if the Taliban is overthrown? I kind or doubt it.

All right . . . let's toy with the idea of giving them a stopping point. Let's say that their war effort is, by thier own definition, completely sucessful. That is, lets just say that somehow or another their finely tuned war machine scours the earth and finds absolutely every person on Earth who has ever committed an act of terrorism . . . regardless of which country they may be hiding in . . . finds them and kills them. All of them.

Did we succeed? Well, it seems to me that we will have just created a whole generation of martyrs. And it seems to me that there will just be whole new generation of terrorists who, in the spirit of their lost heros, will have whole new kind of hatred toward the US. A hatred far beyond what we can currently comprehend. A hatred more focused towards specifically avenging their lost heros and making the US pay. And how many countries did we need to provide a show of force to make this happen? How many civilians die in the process? Just how many new enemies are we making in the process.

We didn't win. We just made our prediciment worse.

WE CANNOT DEFEAT TERRORISM.

It won't go away. This is a sad sad truth. But it is one that we have to live with. There will be bad people doing bad things. This is a sad fact of life.

So should we just lay down and take it when someone does something as horrible as what we saw on September 11th?
HELL NO. That is not the message here.

But, we need to act rationally not emotionally . . . we need to treat these people like criminals rather than treating this like an act of war. We need to investigate the situation thoroughly and procede to bring the individuals responsible to justice.

Justice not War. Stop the bombing.

I agree bombing causes more terrorists. More cake their bodies in the blinding mud of ignorance.
And yes bombs of all sorts, shapes, sizes, do kill terrorists.
But I believe we can hit all of their hives where the new dogs are made, with enough of our bombs to effectively muzzle and leash whatever few may remain.
Constant control and observation of those who speak positively to harming American citizens is the new reality. Zero tolerance for religios control of governments.
Religion is the cancer here our forces will defeat. The religion of the Talibanians.
But we arent learning this lesson are we. Damn shame.

How would you like to and how many times would you like to get punched in the face and not hit back?? You anti war idiots do not think about that. Do you just want to get beat up and not do anything about it?? Wake up you idiots!!
by Bakunin
I'm all for hitting back. I'm all for hitting back harder so you never get hit again. But I'm not for this war. At all. Because that's not what this is. The US is not an innocent victim entirely. The only innocent people are the regular folks who were killed in NYC and who are being killed in Afghanistan. Maybe all the innocent people should hit back against the Bushes and bin Ladens of the world who act like it is their playground for million-dollar killing machines.

U.S. army go home and let's people live !
by lisa
As with all acts of defence there will be innocents that are hurt or even killed. It is a time for rational heads, but having said that we have to realize that not everyone is going to agree on what exactally is the correct respone to the position we have found our selves in. One thing that is sure is that these people are deliberatly killing thousands of innocents. They are not hitting military bases, army camps, subs, navial ships ect, they are going to places such as bail a tourist destionation, and the twin towers primarily individule bussineses and killing primarily mothers, fathers, sons and daugters. Not primarily goverment and military personal. In doing this unfortunatly although war to me shloud always be the last option I can't help but think that we need to hit back hard, so hard that it won't be soon forgoten. We remember our lost war heros because of there bravery and what they gave up for us to have this presious thing called freedom are we to just let that go? If we do none of us especially women will be writting emails such as this one!
