On October 13th 2001 in the Milton Myers recreation center in Hunter's Point, San Francisco, a coalition of over half a dozen groups held a forum titled "Fallout: Hunters Point to Outer Space." About a hundred people showed up, and there was music by the Soul'd Out Gospel Singers. The Naval Shipyard hosted a radiation laboratory which had its own chain of command and collaborated with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Ships returning from nuclear tests were decontaminated there and it is now an EPA "Superfund" site.
