No to War Rally, Berkeley 10/8/01

by Dan Mattson (handyman [at] california.com)
OK. It seems cool to video on the web to convey sign. At this time we don't seem to be able to this. This is the 10 minute video i was trying to to show the sign in my regular 28k mode.

On October 8. 2001 an anti-war Rally was held in Berkeley. From beginning to end the major energy seemed to come from a group of young women from Mills College in Oakland. The march went as far University and 6th where a human line of police, backed up by many vehicles, blocked access to the freeway. This is the very same thing that happened at the march in 1999 that took back KPFA from Pacifica. This time there is more at stake. After hanging out for fifteen minutes, this march, like the march that got back KPFA, turned around at the police line at 6th and University.

Back at Berkeley Bart the young women from Mills College led a sit down in the street.

In between, KPFA's Jay Imano (sp?) spoke.
