Media calls anti-war protestors supporters of Osama Bin Laden
Fresno Fox affiliate calls anti-war protestors "supporters of Osama Bin Laden".
A news story read by KMPH, Channel 26, weekend anchor Eric Alvarez has drawn several telephone calls and e-mails to the station.
During Sunday's (10/7) 10 p.m. newscast on the local Fresno Fox affiliate, Alvarez said the goal of a local protest earlier that day was to show support for terrorist Osama bin Laden.
Alvarez corrected the report later in the newscast. He explained that the purpose of the protest was to express concern over the war in Afghanistan. Alvarez apologized for the error later in the newscast.
KMPH news director Roger Gadley says the camera operator who videotaped the protest provided the incorrect information.
This is in a community where one Arab American has already been murdered in hate crime.

Going after the Taliban makes sense, bombing villages without warrant is senseless. When is someone going to speak up and admit that this has become a genocide? How dare you use rape as a comparison, because those two incidents are not alike at all. How dare you use the pain of rape victims (yourself included) to justify the massacre of the Afghan people.
We bombed them first, then they bombed us, now we bomb them even more. Different, see?
