Anti-war rally/march Berkeley 10/08/01 English/Sign
Ultimateley, this 10 minute video is an experiment to see if rapid motion hand movements, i.e. sign language, are readable on a typical dsl/cable connection with RealPlayer. This is single stream dsl/cable, 225kbs. Feedback welcome.
On October 8. 2001 an anti-war Rally was held in Berkeley. From beginning to end the major energy seemed to come from a group of young women from Mills College in Oakland. The march went as far University and 6th where a human line of police, backed up by many vehicles, blocked access to the freeway. This is the very same thing that happened at the march in 1999 that took back KPFA from Pacifica. This time there is more at stake. After hanging out for fifteen minutes, this march, like the march that got back KPFA, turned around at the police line at 6th and University.
Back at Berkeley Bart the young women from Mills College led a sit down in the street.
In between, KPFA's Jay Imano (sp?) spoke. This is accompanied by sign.
Feed back is welcome re how understandable is the sign and if this is something we should try for,

For high-quality video, it's better to download a QuickTime movie rather than try to stream RealVideo.
