Riot Police Confront Berkeley Anti-War Protest

by anarchophotograph
in what appeared to be an attempt to march towards I80, thousands in berkeley were confronted by riot police. the protest was against racism, war and the bombings in afghanistan that have already killed united nations workers who were there to remove land mines. there was no violence in berkeley tonight, from what i could tell.

Why did the UN leave its people in there if US aggressions were eminent??
by anarchy
The UN workers were there to remove land mines from Afghanistan. There are millions of unexploded lane mines all over Afghanistan from the previous war games played between the US government and the USSR. I imagine they stayed because they, too, believed the ridiculous US government propaganda that they would not bomb civilians. Especially civilians who are there to clean up the destructive violent mess the US left there before.

the protest in berkeley on monday evening went real well; it was lively and the most focused of the one's i've seen. however, i don't think there were "thousands" in attendance. my guess is there were somewhere between 800-1,100.
by anarchophotographer
well, i thought there were about 2,000 there, thus "thousands"

but it is always problematic when you count. we need a helicopter to take pictures of city blocks for us. cops and media seem to universally underestimate. that's why i feel like indymedia can universally round up, but not overestimate. since being 100% accurate is impossible.

What the hell is wrong with you guys out on the west coast? 60's nostalgia is pathetic. You all really look moronic. Go screw yourselves.

Sincerely,

Everyone else in the United States of America

According to MSNBC 2,000 bombs have fallen in Afghanastan to clear the way to go after Osama Bin Laden. My God! All this destructive force just to go after one guy? Talk about being unpopular! I didn't think that the Taliban had 2,000 targets. But civillian facilities are also being bombed such as a red cross wharehouse and roads which could be used for trucks bringing relief to innocent casualties. Duubya is no different. He says he's to only go after the Taliban when innocent civilians are also beng killed by the bombs.
