VOTE NOW TO COUNTER THIS CLAIM! And vote to show wide public support of protecting the Refuge from oil drilling.
Today, the US Senate will have a cloture vote that could potentially stop Inhofe from adding his rider to the Defense Authorization bill.

2. SENATE TO VOTE ON ARCTIC OIL DRILLING SOON, POSSIBLY NEXT WEEK
CALL AND WRITE NOW!
FACT SHEET AT BOTTOM
Dear Friends and Family,
I\'m writing to ask for your help.
I\'ve been touring in the Arctic of Alaska since 1989. I\'ve performed at many of the Gwich\'in Indian villages throughout the Arctic and along the Yukon. I have many friends there, and now my friends\' culture and way of life are severely threatened.
The Senate is scheduled to vote on drilling in the Arctic Wildlife Refuge in the next few weeks, possibly the next few days. If we are to save this priceless wilderness, the great caribou herds, and the culture of the Gwich\'in Indians whose main food source is the caribou, the Senate needs to hear from us loud and clear, NOW.
PLEASE CALL!
If the switchboard is busy, please try again. I\'ve been able to get through usually by the 2nd or third try. All Senators, Democrat and Republican, need to hear from us. Many have changed their positions on the issue of Arctic drilling in recent weeks. The phone calls are necessary because the vote may take place in the next few days, and possibly before your letters will arrive in the mail.
SENATE SWITCHBOARD: 202-224-3121(ask for any Senator)
THE MESSAGE
can be very simple. Tell them, as a voter and their constituent, you feel very strongly that:
-NO OIL DRILLING IN THE ARCTIC WILDLIFE REFUGE.
-Energy and terrorism problems will never be solved by oil drilling in America\'s Arctic Wildlife Refuge.
-Our natural and cultural heritage needs to be conserved in times like these, not destroyed. Congress can come up with better solutions for energy and foreign policy than destroying our Arctic Refuge. (see FACT SHEET at bottom)
PLEASE WRITE TO YOUR SENATORS AND YOUR CONGRESSIONAL REP
The Honorable (full name)
United States Senate
Washington, DC 20510
The Honorable (full name)
US House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515
Your letter can be very short. It could simply say, Dear Senator \"So & So\", I am against oil drilling in the Arctic Wildlife Refuge. Then your signature. Hand written letters are best, but typed are fine also. Emails are less effective. Be sure to include your address on your letter so they will respond to you. In addition to calling, it is important to write the Senators because letters carry the most weight.
Feel free to forward this email to your friends and family. If you have any questions don\'t hesitate to email me at dana@cowswithguns.com.
If we let our voices be heard we can save the Arctic Wildlife Refuge, protect the great caribou herds, and respect the Gwich\'in Indians\' way of life.
Thank you so much for making these calls. This is an issue that is very close to my heart.
Dana Lyons
