Queeruption 2001: San Francisco & Oakland

Queeruption gathering details for San Francisco Bay Area
BERKELEY, CA, September 13, 2001 -- Queeruption is a 5-day gathering of queers (LGBT/SGL/2S) from around the world, coming together in San Francisco and the East Bay to share ideas and strategies about activism, social change, survival--and how to have a good time in the process. Queers from a variety of places will arrive to join with local participants in Queeruption, with activities including roundtable forums, performances, open mikes, music, screenings, and actions in the San Francisco Bay Area over the long weekend of Thursday October 4th through Monday October 8th, 2001.

Here\'s a tentative schedule of events. The curious will be able to find updated schedule information at the event\'s website at http://www.Queeruption.org, and phone information will be available at 510-698-2039 x3181 [the extention is necessary!]

ALL EVENTS ARE ALL AGES AND FREE!!!
Childcare arrangements available.

Thursday October 4:

Settling in and opening night open mike at East Gay Cafe Warehouse 1137 32nd St @ Adeline, Oakland. [people will be available to guide from MacArthur BART.]

Friday October 5: A San Francisco Day

noon: Sexwork - info share focusing on legal, social, and local climate of sex work;
2 pm: S&M workshop - workshop and infoshare focusing on safe play and education. both workshops at Women\'s Building, 3543 18th St. near Valencia, S.F.
Fri night - Drag Attack-Performance and Documentary Film Showing @ Brava Theater, 2781 24th St.


Saturday October 6: San Francisco Day, East Bay Evening.

1 pm: The Idea of Women\'s Space And the Future Of Camp Trans: Trans Presence at Michigan Women\'s Music Festival;
3 pm: Trans 101: Non-Op, Post-Op, I Didn\'t Go to School [both with Martin Inane at Media Alliance, 814 Mission St, #205];
4 pm: Housing, Homelessness, and Hunger as Queer Issues with Tommi Avicolli Mecca and others @ Women\'s Building;
4 pm: History of HIV/AIDS and the future of AIDS Activism @ New College [pending]
Saturday night:Queeruption Electronic Dance Party and hip hop performance. SPAZ Warehouse 705 Bancroft, Oakland

Sunday October 7: - an East Bay Day -

12 Noon: \"Self Defense 4 Girls & Homos\" with Sharon and others-at The Dojo;
12 Noon: Queer Activist History and Theory: Class, Creed, Color, and the counter-culture with Jason Banister, Jess Socket, Andy at 379 40th St., Oakland;
1 PM-\"Intersex awareness and Activism\" with Thea Hillman and Hida @ Ak Press Warehouse, 674-A 23rd Street, Oakland;
2 pm: Queer and Positive in Prison with Kevin Weaver, Judy Greenspan, Antoine Mayhan and others, at Jon Sims, 1519 Mission Street;
3 pm: Lifelong Activism: 20 Years and Counting with Judy Greenspan, Howard Wallace, and others
3 PM-Stilt making with Jakey Riotlama @ Ak Press Warehouse;
3:30 PM -Polygamy, Non-Monogamy, & Gender Fluid Relationships, open discussion facilitated by Raine @ 40th St. Warehouse Evening-A Night of Amplified Music and Loudly Spoken Words @ 379 40th St. Warehouse, Oakland.

Monday October 8: Day-long open discussion, and Outro at East Gay Cafe warehouse, 1137 32nd St @ Adeline, Oakland
