Homeless Liberation Front Press Conference
Members of Portland Homeless Liberation Front hold press conference to protest city treatment of homeless, specifically the no camping ordinance. 6 min.
The Homeless Liberation Front of Portland Oregon held a press conference late Sunday evening, 9/9/01, to protest recent events in ongoing negotiations between a group of homeless persons and the city of Portland. Negotiations between the city and Dignity Village, a village of self organizing and self regulating homeless persons, recently ended with the Village grudgingly moving to a site many protested as unlivable. After two days of uncertainty and agonizing meetings within the Village, Dignity Village accepted the new temporary site offered by the city. Many people refused to move and have set up camp near the Williamette River, at a site referred to as the field of dreams. This is the group who held the press conference which is the subject of this report. Please go to the portland indymedia site for the history of this struggle and recent developments.
