Letter Campaign To Save Rent Board
Urgent Action Needed To
Stop The Landlord Takeover Of Oaklands Rent
Board!
Stop The Landlord Takeover Of Oaklands Rent
Board!
URGENT-SAVE THE RENT BOARD FROM POLITICAL CHICANERY
A letter writing Campaign is underway to keep the heat up on Mayor Jerry
Brown over the dismissal of pro-tenant Commissioner Andrew Wolff. On the
evening of July 26, 2001, Oaklands Rent Board was shut down under pressure of the LANDLORDS of Oakland. Catering to the needs of the RICH, Mayor Jerry
Brown had dismissed Commissioner Wolff before his term expires on October
20, 2001, and denied Commissioner Wolff a Hearing, or the required vote before
Oakland City Council Members to remove for "Cause"as mandated by Oakland's City Charter. The Rent Board was Shut Down when Commissioner Wolff appeared the evening of the 26th, to take his seat on the Hearing Board, after receiving a strange FAX, claiming that The Mayor dismissed him from the board. Since the Rent Board Shut Down, the Mayor had the City Attorney John Russo re-write a new "OPINION" tailored to suit the Mayors attempt to ignore the City Charter. The landlords were behind this all the way in their
attempt to take TOTAL CONTROL over the Rent Board.
Members Of Dick Spees Task Force and their Allies were involved in this attack
on Oaklands Renters.
