Systems incinerator in Oakland.
At least 25 people from an East Oakland neighborhood are risking arrest to block the gates of the IES incinerator at 499 High Street in Oakland at the moment. There surveillance has shown this to be time of high activity for trucks carrying medical waste to arrive. As of noon no trucks had approached the gate. IES employees did bring out a torch to cut off a lock the activists had put on the gate. Here is a 2+ minute video from the scene including a interview with a neighbor to the incinerator. This action will go on until at least 6pm today. It is warm, sunny afternoon on High Street in Oakland. Come join a great group of people. As of noon the media was gone and most of the Oakland PD was gone. Supporters welcome. 499 High St. Oakland, just west of 880.

Anyway, I made it back just in time to film the gates of IES being cleared of blockers so a truck could leave.
Video will be up shortly. (Like maybe three hours)
Meanwhile, Channel 48 (spanish language) will be be broadcasting live at 6 pm, and as the ranks were getting a bit thin when I left at 3:15, it would be great if some folks could show up.
