Freedom, even in the face of death
Wow, what a fucking intense weekend. And I wasn\'t even there.
I really don\'t know what to say, y\'all. I\'m rather speechless, but not necessarily for the reasons that you may expect. Yes, Carlo Giuliani\'s death is definitely on my mind, as are the others that nobody seems to be talking about much. (Speaking of which, what about them? I find something a little suspect about allowing the media to define our focus on one person, especially with several dead from some accounts and 500 in jail, dozens of them beaten badly.) But what is really on my mind is freedom.
Ah yes, the elusive word \"freedom\" -- the one whose meaning escapes you completely unless you\'re in captivity (which most of us are). Is it just me, or are our jobs, are lives, our very existences more and more quantized, commidified, broken into little fractured bits and then sold back to us?
