Protesters Confront Ruling Elite at their Private Bohemian Club

The resort town of Monte Rio, Calif., doubled in size on July 14 as 1,000 demonstrators from all over the state converged to protest the annual all-male gathering of the U.S. elite at Bohemian Grove. Bohemian Grove is a luxurious campsite along the Russian River 75 miles north of San Francisco.

It is no small irony that amid this pristine patch of remaining redwood trees, these rich fat cats come to gorge themselves and discuss strategy for a wide range of ruling class abuses, including environmental degradation.

This two-week retreat is reserved for 2,500 members and guests of San Francisco\'s Bohemian Club--an exclusive group of men, 99 percent white and all connected to the ruling class. Every Republican president since Herbert Hoover, as well as quite a few Democrats, has been a member.

§For the international workingclass

This otherwise excellent report was marred by giving recognition to a very backward phenomena, namely the glorification of the Catholic Church and the merging of its identity with Mexican nationalism. This merging of the Catholic identity with national identity occurs in most predominately Catholic countries, such as Poland and the Philippines. The fact remains, there are atheists in all countries; Jews in most countries including Mexico and Poland; Moslems in many countries, especially the Philippines; and Protestants in many countries. Thus, it is an insult to all non-Catholics in those countries to merge the Catholic identity with the national identity.

Above and beyond the incorrect merging of religious identity with national identity is the issue of mentioning this backward outlook at all, as it was completely unnecessary and irrelevant to the workingclass protest of the presence of the filthy rich male members of the capitalist class at Bohemian Grove. Their stupid ceremony was obviously dreamed up by drunks and for drunks as we can be sure the alcohol flows freely at this Bohemian Grove party. With or without the existence of this drunken ceremony, the protest of these anti-labor war criminals was worth it and is always necessary.

We are in a labor era now. I hope to see lots of red flags at future demonstrations protesting the capitalist class with lots of signs proclaiming the opposition to the capitalist class by the international workingclass. All national flags represent the capitalist class in its various national forms. Whether it be Mexico, Israel or the USA, or any other nation, all nationalism is reactionary. The red flag is the flag of the international workingclass and it should prevail abundantly at all these anti-capitalist demonstrations.

Religion is superstition and is used to oppress the workingclass. I hope to see lots more affirmation of science, which literally means knowledge.

All aboard the 21st Century train of science, the red flag and the international workingclass to realize our goal of socialism!
