Free Radio Berkeley IRATE (International Radio Action Training Education) will be hosting an open house party to showcase independent media programs, projects, and technologies.
Featured events:
Presentations by Bay Area Micropower Broadcasters
Representatives from several local micropower stations will be presenting information about their operations.
Demonstration & exhibit of FM broadcast equipment
The technology that empowers local communities with their own low power FM broadcast stations will be showcased.
Introduction to the SF Bay Independent Media Center
Formed last year by local media activists, the SF Bay IMC provides ongoing coverage of regional events and actions. It is built on a model of open web content publishing, including video, photos, audio, and text. Just selected as one of the "Best of the Bay" by the SF Bay Guardian.
Video & audio streams directly from Genoa G8 protests
To demonstrate the capacity and power of the global independent media center network, now comprising over 50 sites, video and audio feeds from the Genoa, Italy IMC site will be running on several computers. It is anticipated that over 100,000 people will be in Genoa to protest the globalization policies and programs of the G8 leaders who will be surrounding themselves with an army of police and military troops.
Digital audio & video for independent media
Demonstrations of digital audio and video software/hardware for the creation of content for publishing on the IMC web sites and audio programs for broadcasting on micropower and community radio stations.
