IMPERIALISM SCREWS ARGENTINA

by Adam, San Francisco (saltasolidarity [at] yahoo.com)
Background on the workers revolt in Salta that is shaking Argentina.
!Salta Solidarity!

This is the first Bulletin on the situation in Salta, Argentina, at the forefront of the anti-capitalist/anti-imperialist struggle. Published by -Salta Solidarity (NZ/Aotearoa)

Argentina like most of Latin America is suffering an economic super-exploitation by imperialism that is creating widespread unemployment and suffering. The IMF and World Bank have required that President de la Rua cut social spending in exchange for new loans of $20 billions. Workers and unemployed have been engaged in spreading resistance to this austerity drive. In the Northern province of Salta which borders, Bolivia and Paraguay, workers and unemployed have been fighting the employers and local authorities since December last year. This popular uprising now has growing support from other areas in Argentina culminating in a massive protest in Buenos Aires on June 17. The bosses and their government are now frightened that the example of the Salta protest will spread and become a nationwide rebellion
