Peter Iovino of Ford/US Trade Coalition wants to hear from you
For activism with a personal touch, let Peter Iovino know that you're out there.
The US Trade Coalition is the new spearhead for FTAA and Fast Track. After N. Wyeth published a list of Steering Committee members and their contact info, I sent out an e mail to all on the list. Peter Iovino of Ford wrote back saying he wants to hear from you.

Peter's e mail:

Here is the note I sent out:
Please take note:
It is not a small group of radicals who oppose Presidential Fast Track Authority. Nor is it a small group of radicals who oppose your attempts to ratify the FTAA. You all know this or you would not be so furtive in your attempts to push this very agenda. The days of your agenda are numbered. The general public, as you surely know, stands firmly against your economic vision characterized by:
A plummeting of environmental stanards and wages
Attempts to terminate the democratic process by which treaties are ratified
Hypocritical misuse of Free Market theory to justify a corporate run "command and control" economy
The commodification of every aspect of life in every community from the tip of South American to Northern Alaska.
We will not tolerate the privatization of public policy. We will not tolerate your increasingly secretive attempts to impose your agenda on the general public. We will not tolerate this assault on the human condition. We will be watching you. We will be contesting your agenda. We will prevail.
We've just begun to fight back against the corporate leviathan that you have helped create.
Here's a reply from Peter Iovino of Ford Motor Co. :
Bring it on, sucker. Oh, and by the way: Don't ever email me again.
Best regards,
Peter

I wrote back:
I'll hold onto your highly reasoned response for my records.
And thanks for volunteering your fax number and mobile phone number. I'll be sure and pass this on to other concerned citizens.
PETER:
I told you not to email me.
Best regards,
Peter

PETER AGAIN:
Oooh, threats. I'll be sure and hold onto this for MY records.

Since Peter kept sending me his contact info, he obviously is up to the task of this activist challenge. I'm sure he'd love a fax/email/phonecall from you.
Let Peter know how deep and how far the grass roots go.
