WEEK OF ACTION AGAINST EXXON/MOBIL
The first week of July has been designated as a WEEK OF ACTION AGAINST EXXON/MOBIL. Why not visit a gas station near you! . Exxon/Mobil, besides denying the validity of climate change and being MAJOR enemies of the Earth, are one of the biggest proponents of "free trade", and ran advertisements in most major US newspapers saying that US and the rest of the Americas should sign onto the FTAA.
>>CALL TO ACTION ON EXXON MOBIL<<
PressurePoint has called for and is coordinating an INTERNATIONAL DAY OF ACTION against Exxon Mobil in response to President Bush's withdrawal from the Kyoto Protocol Treaty on climate change. The actions will be held in the first week of July in the lead up to the July 16 climate negotiations in Germany, and will be part of an ongoing campaign on climate and fossil fuels. World outrage is focused on the US and oil companies like ExxonMobil, which has consistently lobbied against the seriousness of global warming. The US contributes 25% of the world's greenhouse emissions despite having just 4% of the world's population.
Activists from Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Nigeria, Cameroon, the United States, Canada, Great Britain, South Africa, Central America, and throughout Europe have begun moblizing for the protests. In the US, PressurePoint already has commitments for ten protests at ExxonMobil gas stations in the Pacific Northwest, and in many major US cities. The protests are in support of the call for an international boycott of US oil companies.
Exxon Mobil continues to fund "greenhouse skeptics", has spent millions on greenwash advertisements, was one of the top contributors to Bush's election, and has been active in lobbying the US government to reject the Kyoto Protocol. ExxonMobil also has a terrible human rights and environmental record. Targeting Exxon Mobil, the biggest US corporation and its best known oil company, will spearhead the campaign and send a message to all US oil companies that the US needs to take climate change seriously.
Join the global and regional effort to let ExxonMobil and George W Bush know it's not up to them to determine our planet's future, that we will no longer tolerate oil drilling in our last wildernesses like the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and that they have to make the shift from exploration to renewable energy NOW.

Where is this proof that the earth is warming? There is plenty of research that casts doubt on that theory, even more to indicate that the earth has been COOLING since 1942.
We don't need to show you any stinckin' proof!
The earth is warming because we say it is. Damn all scientific evidence! If we say the earth is flat, you better fall in line with our dogma.
Genetically modified food is unsafe because we say it is.
Irradiated vegetables is a ticking time bomb because we say so!
Capitalism and eating dead animals is evil because we're right, and you are pigs!
Boy Scouts are bigots because toleration only goes one way. You have to tolerate gays, but we will never tolerate the right to association, except to cause riots.
Any questions? Save them for someone who is independent and rational. Don't confound us with reason!

It is apparent that you have a shallow source of information from which to draw your unsubstansiated opinon. Have you never heard of the hole in the ozone? Don't you know that its size has increased due to "greenhouse "gases ie: CFCs carbon monixide? These gases may occur naturally in other forms, but automotive polution has been shown by scientists world-wide to be a large factor. Sea levels have been measured all around the globe and have been rising every year due to the increased solar radiation (ergo: heat) seeping through the ozone hole. Deep ice samples have been extracted to reveal more pollutants in this century than those before it. Do your research BEFORE you spout off and sound uneducated... Oops, too late, you already did.

Please get this straight.
Ozone layer thinning is due to CFCs in the upper atmosphere. This lets through more UV (ultraviolet) radiation, which doesn't directly contribute significantly to warming, but can damage plants and animals, especially plankton. Damaged plants may photosynthesize less, contributing to CO2 build-up, but this is indirect.
CFCs are also greenhouse gases, but I don't believe that their impact *as greenhouse gases* is as great as the impact of carbon dioxide and methane.
The greenhouse effect is caused by these gases reflecting heat back to the Earth that would otherwise radiate to outer space. More light or heat might come in (possibly by reduced cloud formation in some places), but such an increase is not the primary contributor to global warming.
