Eco-Anarchist Sentenced to 22 Years in Prison

by anarchycorps (evilgap [at] yahoo.com)
22 years for defending the Earth
Urgent ELP! Bulletin (12th June 2001)

Dear friends

It is with total & utter rage that we bring you the horrific news that Jeff
Luers (also known as Free) has been sentenced to 22 years imprisonment.

Free is a well known environmental activist who has worked hard in the
struggle for ecodefence.

A few days ago Jeff was found guilty of all the charges laid against him.
But ELP was asked not to circulate the news until after the actual
sentencing took place. ELP is expecting a statement from Free & Critters
support campaign about this outragious and totally unjustified sentencing.
As soon as we get that statement we will circulate it via the usual sources.

In the meantime we are giving you a copy of a newspaper article about Free.

Obviously 22 years is a horrific sentence and we urge everyone to send a
letter to Free today. As an ex-prisoner, I guarantee you that Free needs
your letters now more than ever.

Write to Free today!

Rapists and murderers get less time in jail for destroying people's lives! It seems the lesson to be learned here is that property, especially environmentally destructive property, is much more valuable than human life. You're better off killing someone you get in a fight with than damaging their car, because you will get out of jail sooner. How come they never taught us this lesson in school?

I'd like to thank the police and prosecutors for letting us know, with this case, that murder isn't as bad as damaging destructive property. Although at the rate police murder innocent people in this country, I should have known this all along!

Who gives a shit about living beings? They can all rot in concentration camps while I polish and protect my much more valuable and important SUV! Thanks, police and prosecutors, for helping me to get my values right!

Rapists and murderers would get less time than terrorists like Osama bin Laden, Heinrich Himmler, the Unabomber, Timothy McVeigh, and hopefully the self-styled earth terrorists.

This seems like a an unjust sentance, but its unclear why he burned the SUV's.... maybe im just ignorant but perhaps you could explain the motives behind his actions so that people who want to help will know what theyre fighting for.
