Photo: Public Power Activists Crash Democratic Party Energy Hearings in Oakland
While Bush did his thing in Southern California - Democratic Congressional Representatives did their thing at an "Energy Hearing" in Oakland.
5/29/01
Public Power Activists crashed the press conference that followed the “Energy Hearings”.
Rep. Gephardt and the Members of the Bay Area Congressional Delegation said nothing about Public Power. They did their best to ignore the protesters but were obviously caught off guard.

To: Medea Benjamin and the Green Party
Please be advised that the party in power is the Republican party. We anarchists are a bit bemused by the Green party cloaking themselves as "Energy Activists". Thank you.

I also give thanks for the hardcores like Tom Foolery,
Namaste :)
To: David "aka Namaster"
David, please note the New Age fad and fetish with eastern "pacifist" traditions is now over. Please consult some new guru to find a more up-to-date path or even check out the militant Catholic Worker for some guidance. Let's honor the Zapatistas, the Provos and numerous other counter-insurgencies which do more then run around with their silly signs and reved up megaphones.

To: Jenny Z
Dear Ms. Z,
On the question of "Solidarity" we remind you that solidarity is exactly the point here. It is the Greens that are harassing other dilitantes in the struggle for people power. A little light hearted criticism helps the soul. Critically speaking it is the California Green Party that drives many away from the movement. Luckily, the Anarchists are there to pick up the pieces time after time.
Solidarity,
Office of Tom Foolery
As a militant anarchist, I think that what the public power advocates are doing is good, even if it is only "reformist." It takes all kinds to build a movement. Some of what the Green Party has done is lame, particularly around the Nader campaign, but it also does some positive outreach to more mainstream people-- like the great work being done by Medea and others around public power.
Rock on!
TO: "Ya Basta!"
Dear Mr./Mrs. Basta,
For one that claims either enough is enough or to be a member of "Ya Basta!" you certainly have a dim mind. Please note the Office of Tom Foolery is an office not a person. Actually, Tom Foolery, if you didn't realize, refers to joking around. We find dim witted self-proclaimed anarchists to be as every bit as dull as the Green Party as a matter of fact please redress yourself and recuse yourself from the anarchist anti-authoritarian movement do to such literalism. In terms of Medea and the rest of the Vanguard gang I find your respect a bit questionable. Do you often go around endorsing those you have a love-hate relationship with. Perhaps you like disfunctional relationships? We in the office will enjoy such other defenses of the Greens and their latest gimick to gain public access. To help in the cause we suggest you maybe give them a lesson in property destruction, since you are a militant anarchist aren't you?
Jovialy,
Office of Tom Foolery
