Willie Brown's Civic Playground

by Alias Salem (salim [at] mashriq.org)
overview and background on gentrification of UN Plaza and attacks on Food Not Bombs and Homeless
WILLIE BROWN

Excellent article. I would like to point out that anyone attending the opera, symphony, and ballet would not go anywhere near UN plaza as it is too far away and there is no reason to go through that area at all. If one takes BART and gets off at the Civic Center, one walks up Market to Van Ness, and then Van Ness to either symphony hall or the opera house. Thus, this connection King Willie The Last apparently made of UN Plaza to the arts at the Civic Center has no relation to reality. Most people drive and park underground at Brooks Hall or behind the opera house. It is also a fact that the Board of Supervisors must approve all expenditures. Thus, we can make a stink with all of them. After all, if there are social service cutbacks pending, there is certainly no money for any tampering with UN Plaza. The demand that must be made is for permanent, affordable housing for all of the homeless, and nothing less. We have lots of empty office space now which the city can take over by right of eminent domain, rezone, and convert to affordable housing. The $5 million being proposed to remake UN Plaza could instead be spent n permanent affordable housing. If the homeless have no money, then the city will have to pay the entire rent. It is time to remove the profit motive from housing. We should all remember that Brown sits in office with 40% of the vote plus election fraud, and now his support is down to 20%, namely the ruling class and their upper middle class lackeys. The protest in defense of Food Not Bombs worked as I hear he did not touch FNB when its supporters were called out to protest the arrests and the bench removals. We need to continue to promote mass action. Brown is history now; he has no career ahead of him and absolutely nothing to offer most people in San Francisco. The housing and transportation crises are as bad, if not worse, than ever. Any protest will shut him up. Sounds like a "Tale Of 2 Cities". Willie Browns
counterpart Jerry Brown in Oakland is making some fast moves to run off the poor from Oakland. Some of the same players also are behind the scenes...

I too agree on Massive Demonstrations to hit the streets. But to back this up, I advocate Rolling Rent Strikes to put some of the worst of the Gentrifiers into
Receivorship.

My vision is for thousands of renters across the Bay Area similtaneously to all withold rents at the same time due to uninhabitable conditions, such as for Cockroach Infestation's. All nice and legal. Hold back on the rents for as long as possible, until the suckers default on their obligations, and fall into Receivorship.

Repeat this strategy, over and over until the
Free Market has to lower the rents, and the sucker's
scream uncle. They want a Free Market? Give it to them, but reverse the screws.

I say crash the system.....LC

Jerry Brown, now mayor of Oakland, is a longtime friend of Mr. Election Fraud, Democratic "mayor" of San Francisco, Willie Brown. Jerry is a lifelong member of the ruling capitalist class and for most of his life, officially a Democrat, and in reality, still a Democrat as his family is an integral part of the decision-making of the Democratic Party and his actions are no different from many other Democrats' actions. In the 1970s, when Jerry was governor of California, he and Willie Brown and the rest of the Democratic Party promoted that infamous CIA front, the People's Temple, which committed massive election fraud in San Francisco. After 913 of them were murdered in Jonestown, Guayana on November 18, 1978, Jerry participated in the coverup of this CIA drug-mind control experiment on the black community of the Bay Area. The coroner of Guayana verified that all but 3 deaths were murders and of the 913, 287 were children. For more on the sordid history of the Democrats, the People's Temple and Jonestown, see http://www.brasscheck.com/stadium.

If you have had enough of these capitalist politicians who can never deliver the goods and services, and will commit election fraud and any other crime to further their goals and stay in office, consider joining a workingclass socialist party, Peace & Freedom Party, which always supports labor, peace, the environment and all civil rights including gay rights and women's rights. We are staunch and consistent supporters of tenants and staunch opponents of all election fraud and its perpetrators. We also oppose the death penalty. We were on the ballot from 1968 to 1998 and need just a few more registrations to be ready for the 2002 governor's race, which promises to be quite a show with the public power issue being foremost. If you would like to assure that we have a progressive alternative for governor as well as all the other constitutional officers in 2002, check "Other" on your voter registration form and write in Peace & Freedom Party. Normally the cyclical exploitation of the poor by the ruling classes leads to an accumulation of wealth and power into the hands of the few leaving hoards of destitute beings along the sidelines to suffer. In their suffering is born the means to the revolution which brings the monetary situation back into alignment and consequently brings forth a new era in sociological enlightenment and evolution.

It is the opinion of this author that the powers that be have found an alternate plan of dealing with this historic phenomena: namely to "Eliminate the poor". Do not allow the suffrage to mature. The strategic spread of AIDs, prisons, and basically "The Criminalization Of Poverty" are the means being used to accomplish this end.

If we do not stop them from eliminating those who suffer from their misdeeds (the poor) then they will have escaped a social epoch and we will have allowed them to climb to an unprecedented height in power and influence (one which required the exhaustion of many human lives) from which causing the same to take place again in the future (to exploit and rob the masses without repercussion) will be far too easy.
