Brown Cracksdown on Homeless in Civic Center
Mayor Brown is Cracking Down on Homelessness in Civic Center Plaza Food Not Bombs and COH are concerned that this will lead to further social problems.
On my way to the usual monday night Food Not Bombs serving in Civic Center Plaza (7th and Market) I cross the path of our favorite corporate media, KRON (Ch. 4) adding juice to their previous report on homelessness in Civic Center Plaza. Except there report is not about how the city should be helping these folks it is about how the homeless pose a threat to the "good" citizens of San Francisco. Subsequently in the dark of night the Public Works chops all the benches out of civic center plaza. Ostensibly this is to prevent homeless people from being able to converge in the plaza. Additionally, homeless people have reported increased harassment by police, ticketing for sleeping in public, and police officers en masse at the plaza.
Food Not Bombs will be monitoring the situation and will be making an appropriate response to these coercive and inhumane actions of the Brown administration which has recently been a target of corruption probes from various sources.
YOU CAN HELP by showing up at Food Not Bombs servings each Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday at Civic Center Plaza to let Mayor Brown know the people are watching him and his agencies.

§heavy police presence
on lunch break i was up at civic center. there were several bike cops and motorcycle cops patrolling the plaza. funny to see motorcycles running around the plaza. but anyway the harassment continues on a day-to-day basis since the benches have been taken down. stay tuned...

§hello
I would like to defend people who are living on the streets. I understand that their are police attacks and what not, but with numbers in SOLIDARITY would the cops EVEN attempt such an arrest or housebreaking?
