The FBI raids the Independent Media Center in Seattle
According to authorities, security plans intended to protect western leaders attending the Summit of the Americas in Quebec City were taken from a car over the weekend and posted hours later on the Seattle Indy Media website. On Saturday night, FBI agents raided the offices of the Independent Media Center in downtown Seattle, seizing computer log records, according to federal sources. No arrests have been made. One federal criminal justice source said the speed with which the sensitive stolen document appeared on the internet speaks to the sophistication of the movement that is opposed to unrestricted global trade.
According to federal criminal justice sources quoted in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the organization has committed no clear-cut violation of U.S. law by posting the documents on the web, and the action may be protected as free speech.

and i agree. HTTP logs are next to useless. even if logs are kept, they should not have IP addresses.
this sort of tactic is only going to be used more often it the days to come. and this probably isn't the last time an IMC will receive a visit from the FBI.
(hi, J. Edgar! keep on snooping!)
