by Standard Part
Jim Redden, author of Snitch Culture, and Paulina Borsook, author of Cyberselfish, will join local artists Los Cybrids at the LAB this Saturday for the second of a series of performalogues dealing with the Internet and its discontents, "The Webopticon: Arquitectura of Control"
echelon, carnivore, pgp, steganography, tempest, deprotection, email reversing, webugs, cryptography, racial webfiling, spyware

The Galería de la Raza presents . . .
An Offline Performalogue:

The Webopticon:  Arquitectura of Control

This performalogue will explore the cosmological shift into the networked architecture of control extended by Information
Technologies.  In performance and anti-panel discussion with experts in the field, Los Cybrids will engage issues of internet
dataveillance, surveillance and panoptic visions to expose the emerging Global Information Infrastructure.  Come join us as we
performatively, visually and aurally riff through the barrio convergence of the actual Webopticon. Find out if you need to be
connected to be affected.

As they colonize the www we migrate into freenet.PtoP 4ever.

freenet's great and all, proff, but what about the sort of near real-time exchanges that commenting functionality sort like this provide. Freenet does not have that kind of interactivity, as i understand it. each comment would require a new key to be inserted into the Freenet. comments could be separated somehow and inserted separately, perhaps.

if SF IMC wanted to publish on Freenet, it would be (at least initially) at the expense of silencing people's ability to comment on the stories and pictures posted to the newswire. this would destroy the effectiveness of open publishing, since the model of allowing anyone to speak their mind without censorship only works if people can publish their responses with equal facility.
