CALIFORNIA DEPUTY ATTORNEY GENERAL SUED OVER LOCK-OUT!

NOTIFICATION OF PRESS CONFERENCE-APRIL 26 2001: 12p.m.

Deputy Attorney General sued by his tenants for
retaliatory lock-out and defective conditions!

Tenants from three units were locked out of their apartments by their landlord, Jerry Curtis, a California Deputy Attorney General after their Oakland Apartments flood with rainwater! Most of their possessions were lost as a result of the water damage from a defective roof that needed repairs. The roof was partially blown off by the wind, and the rainstorm followed. The lock-out occured after the three victims interviews of desperation were aired in a local televised news cast, and the lock-out was deemed as retaliatory. The tenants now fight back!

Two of the three tenants remain homeless since the lock-out, and need help in finding affordable housing.

The three locked out tenants, Kendra Wilson, Ira Jones, and Andria Crosby, and their attorneys Ken Greenstein and
Ira Jacobowitz, will be available to answer questions regarding the details of the lawsuit. Other housing advocates will also be present to demonstrate against the outrageous actions taken by Mr. Curtis against the tenants and Oakland's lack of protection for tenants.

for an Oakland Anti-Eviction Demonstration in support of the locked-out Tenants.
