Border Demo in San Diego
Border Demo in San Diego draws 2,500.
An unexpectedly strong demonstration brought 2500 people out on a partly rainy day to San Diego's Larsen Park. They protested the Free Trade of the Americas meetings going on in Quebec and drew attention to border issues. After a rally most of the crowd marched to the entry to Mexico at Tijuana. Some went across to rally with their Mexican counterparts on a Tijuana beach. Their protest signs were confiscated by Mexican authorities. Others returned to Larsen Park for a rousing concert by Aztlán Underground. This was one of the most significant actions to take place in San Diego and marked the inception of the IMC San Diego, http://www.sandiego.indymedia.org.
