Washington/Canada Border Closed 2 Hrs.

by Hope Springs
After a rally of over 5,000, protest closed the border for two hours today.
A rally under banners of No Way to FTAA gathered over 5,000 labour activists, students, members of chuches, farmers, hispanics, native people and a diverse group of individuals from green, yellow and red causes, in Peace Arch Park today to hear speakers, perform, listen to music, dance and socialize. The highlight was a march onto the roadways between the two border inspection points which blocked traffic for about two hours. Although small groups of Canadian Mounties, on one side of the park, and state troopers, on the other, were quite visible, there were no incidents.
