by chuck mcnally (fwscucb [at] yahoo.com)
As UC Berkely holds their annual open house(Cal DAY), students and community members will come together to have theirs..Join us in a Festival of Resistance
Bring your dancing shoes, sleeping bags...Bikes welcome

Dance Party at Underhill. Friday 9 pm, Underhill Parking Lot. No to the Underhill Parking Structure Plan, Yes to Affordable Housing on the Underhill Lot. Join us in dancing the night away, as we bring
together students and community members in support of affordable housing for all, and protest the continued inaction of the University and the City Council to address the growing problems of gentrification and homelessness in the surrounding community. Bring your dancing shoes, tents, and a sleeping bag. Rain or shine...We are working on getting some shelter for the dance.

Saturday - Underhill parking lot. Stop by to play a little soccer or softball. Folks will be organizing the first annual soccer and softball games, and we will be having the 2nd Annual Underhill Bike Race at 2pm, followed by...

Disorientation - Underhill Movie Night. Starting at 8pm we will be watching a series of movies related to the University and the growing power of the Corporate Oligarchy:
Berkeley to Soweto(History of Divestment - Anti Apartheid Campaign at Berkeley)- seems like it makes sense since Student for Justice in Palestine our currently working on a divestment campaign of their own

University, Inc. - an amazing movie about the privatization of higher education, and recent changes experienced at UT(Austin)and many other universities

On Strike: Ethnic Studies 1969-1999 - Struggle for a valid education at UC Berkeley(and in Cali for that matter)and for a true multiculturalism based off of justice...twLF represent...WHOSE UNIVERSITY?

Just Trying to Sleep(by Ken Moshesh) - Ken is a former professor of African American Studies at UCB...Many of you may know him from his recent involvement with the ethnic studies struggle...He is a writer/ teacher / poet / and organizer ... This video documents his struggle over the last 7 years or so(i think??)to find a little shelter that is affordable, and his recent attempts to overturn a state law that criminalizes sleep. This is all about why we will be at Underhill...let the Berkeley's Mayor Dean know that we support the Homeless Human and Civil Rights Resolution and that until the University and the City can get their act together and figure out how to co-operate with various sectors of the community to provide for affordable housing for all we demand a moratorium on increasing the number of students going to UCB and on the enforcement of California Penal code section 647j(her phone # is 981-7100)

USA INCarcerated - a film from Critical Resistance about slavery in America today...the increasing power of the corporate oligarchy and the wherehousing of strategic age cohorts(youth of color, people of color, and the unemployed)...as well as about the destruction of Public Education and the expansion of the Prison Industrial Complex

Breaking the Bank`-`about IMF/World Bank protests on April 2000 in DC, globalization: this movie tells how the IMF/World Bank(and WTO)affect the worlds population, and bring the affect of all this corporate globalization shit home...Bechtel go to hell, and hell no we are not joining NO FTAA.
