We Made It!!!!!: Report from SF/ Bay Area IMCers In Quebec City
The following report may be of assistance to people still planning to enter Canada via plane.
April 18, 2001
After much apprehension, all six of our \"affinity group\" have arrived in Quebec City. The following report may be of assistance to people still planning to enter Canada via plane. We are posting this with the intention of assuring those scheduled to fly to the FTAA events that if you have no criminal record and leave ALL incriminating literature at home, in all probability you will eventually be allowed to enter the country. Expect questions and baggage searches, but most likely that will be the extent of the trouble.
On Monday, April 16th, three IMCers flew into Montreal. According to one member of that group:
\"I went to the customs counter with a pre-determined story that in no
way involved QC or the FTAA. I was also dressed somewhat conservatively
with a collared shirt. When I got to the customs counter, I was asked how long I was staying in Canada. I replied truthfully that I intended to visit for one week. When the officials enquired about my reason for visiting, I responded that I was travelling for personal purposes to a sailboat factory. Satisfied with my response they asked no further questions, unconcerned about where I was staying or other any other details. They stamped my passport without the slightest hassle, and responded similarly to the other two people I was with.\"
A fourth person entered through Toronto on the morning of Tuesday April 17:
\"An interrogation at customs caused me to miss my flight from Toronto to Quebec City. I explained (truthfully) that I would be filming the People

Welcome to Québec, San Franciscans!
Here's a tip I learned from attending the
inauuration in Washington DC --- it pays to look
bland ! I entirely skipped the long security
lines protesters waited in to get to Penn. Ave.
How ? I had all my pins on a baseball hat
concealed in a big black garbage bag that had my
sign in it. I wore semi-dress up clothes and
when I was safely on the street to rally
(past the police lines) I took out my hat and
sign. Idea for Candada bound - wear dress
black, act distraught, say you're going to a funeral.
Good Luck all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
