CINCINNATI ERUPTS IN RIOTS

As of 3:00 am Thursday morning (april 12th), a cop has been shot (currently in the hospital), people are torching dumpsters and setting fires, many businesses have had their windows broken, and the police have shot over 60 people with rubber bullets, bean bags and mace at point-blank range. A nine-year old boy was shot in the head by a police beanbag and was taken to the hospital. Thousands of people have rushed out to the streets to respond to the extreme injustices that have been and continue to be committed against communities of color on a daily basis. Racial profiling, police brutality, and massive repression are common phenomena in these communities, and the people of Cincinnati have decided they aren't going to take it any more.

This is revolutionary energy! We cannot let this end in government repression, silence, fear and apologies like the L.A. riots. The mayor has threatened to call out the National Guard. Let's be ready to take action. We can build something real and sustainable out of this energy. The time is now! Don't just stand outside police stations chanting slogans, torch the damn things! We don't need police! As soon as the put on the badge and gun, they've become an authority, rather than the person they once were. We can resolve our own conflicts, within our communities, without police involvement. How about a spokes in the natti tomorrow night -- maybe on people's corner? -- regroup, plan the next step...together, in solidarity, we can make this happen. We can't let it die. This is the spark that will light a much bigger fire -- if we let it. Only fear can stop us now. And in the end, we have nothing to fear.
