The Coalition for Public Power Now
invites you to voice your opinion and attend the
Community Forum on the Current Energy Crisis
with Invited Members of the Public Utilities Commission and Elected Officials
Please come and express your concerns regarding this
important energy crisis.
Wednesday, April 18, 2001. 7:00 to 9:00 PM
Cesar Chavez Elementary School
825 Shotwell St
San Francisco, CA 94110
Between 22nd and 23rd Sts. in the Mission District
The Coalition for Public Power Now, a group of
concerned citizens and organizations that have come
together to address the current power crisis from a
grassroots perspective, have organized a community
forum on the current energy crisis in the State of
California. We have invited and have received
confirmation that at least some of the members of the
California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) will
attend. The PUC is the state agency that last week
voted to increase PG&E rates by up to 46%. We have
also invited Governor Gray Davis and several other
local and state officials to attend.
We have scheduled the meeting for April 18, 2001 from
7:00 to 9:00 PM at Cesar Chavez Elementary School,
825 Shotwell St. between 22nd and 23rd Sts. in San
Francisco\'s Mission District.
We have structured the meeting to facilitate the
chance for commissioners of the PUC to clearly
articulate their positions regarding the recent
developments in the energy crisis, while at the same
time allowing the public a chance to express
themselves on the energy crisis at a meeting time
accessible to working class people. Since the purpose
of this event is to foster this dialogue, everyone
affected by this crisis is welcome and encouraged to
attend.
Come to our next planning meeting on Monday, April 9 at
7pm at City Blend Cafe on 16th Street between Valencia and Mission.
