"La Mancha," the second annual Bay Area film festival,
is looking for aspiring filmmakers in need of a forum
to display their works. Quixotic Productions, a
non-profit run by two Menlo-Atherton High School
students, William Most and Nathan Kitada, is
coordinating this festival, which will be held on
April 28, at the Burgess Recreational Center in Menlo
Park.
A panel of judges will present awards to outstanding
movies, and Most and Kitada are working to schedule
brief seminars for students on the film industry.
Films last year included "Creature," a film by Ben and
Tyler Soper of Palo Alto High School. The film was
one of the finalists in the 1999 National Children's
Film Festival. Kitada will also show his film,
"Fighting the Enemy," a historical drama set in 1946.
Any current or recent student of a Bay Area high
school is eligible to enter a film in the festival.
Call William Most at (650) 854-3074 or Nathan Kitada
at (650) 854-2906 to enter a film or for more
information.
The La Mancha Student Film Festival was made possible
by grants from the Menlo-Atherton Foundation for the
Future, and from the Brandenburg Family Foundation.
