SF Democrats Applaud Bush Cabinet

by Justice
San Francisco's Board of Supervisors, consisting of 1 Green and 10 Democrats, approved a resolution on a 9-2 vote, with Daly (Democrat) and Gonzalez (Green) voting no, commending fascist Elaine Chao's appointment to the illegitimate Pres. Bush's cabinet on 3/19/01.
Elaine Chao opposes the existence of the minimum wage and affirmative action and is a Republican. This resolution was promoted by the organized crime gang which usually supports Republicans and Willie Brown, namely the Chinese Six Companies, the ruling class of the reactionary Chinese community of San Francisco. The many progressives, including socialists of San Francisco of Chinese descent, have yet to be honored by this Board.
That means all the so-called progressives except 2, led by Tom Ammiano, the Board President, joined together with the reactionaries, all of whom are also Democrats, to support a Republican. We can be sure they would never do so to support a socialist. This is certainly not the first time the Democrats and Republicans joined together. Bush has a Democrat in his cabinet: Norman Mineta, Sec of Transportation and former VP of Lockheed. Conversely, Clinton had a Republican in his cabinet, Bill Cohen, Sec. of Defense. It is interesting that both are tied to the war industry.
This is yet another example of why we say there is not a dime's worth of difference between the Democrats and Republicans. They always join together when it serves their purpose, usually to defeat the Left. In this case, it was grandstanding for the reactionary property-owner Chinese-American vote (tenants are in fact the majority of SF Chinese-Americans). To support Elaine Chao is to support a fascist who is no different from Ilse Koch, the Nazi woman who had a lampshade made of human skin at her desk in Auschwitz.
If you are sick and tired of the Democrat-Republicans, consider joining a socialist party, which by definition, never supports any Democrats or Republicans and always sticks to its principles. That is, Peace and Freedom Party, a socialist party on the ballot in California from 1968 to 1998. We need just a few more registrations to return to the ballot. Just check Other on your voter registration form and write in Peace & Freedom Party. For more information, see http://www.peaceandfreedom.org.

I'm in peace and freedom currently. Somehow I have a strong urge to switch to the greens now though. The candidate that we ran for governor last time is about as immoderate in her speech.

Stay with Peace & Freedom Party if you are registered Peace & Freedom. The count for the 2002 ballot will be at the end of this year, 2001. There is no state or federal election this year, thus we must do it by registration. We need more alternatives on the ballot and by staying registered P&F, you are affirming that commitment.
The Green Party is not a socialist party. It believes capitalism can be reformed, which is not possible as the clock of history cannot be turned back. A socialist party recognizes that the primary contradiction is between capital and labor and only labor, as an organized force, can make progressive change.
As to candidates, everyone in Peace & Freedom Party is encouraged to run for office. No one has a monopoly on any office candidacy.
Every organization depends upon the active participation of its members. We need just a few thousand out of the 24 million adults in California to restore our ballot status. It was a major achievement for the progressive community of California to create Peace & Freedom Party in 1968, and transform it to a socialist party in 1974. To lose P&F is to lose a major achievement of the workingclass and of a generation. It will mean that we will have to "reinvent the wheel" and form another socialist electoral organization, for only a socialist organization can lead as it is always based in the workingclass.
I urge every P&F member to actively participate in our voter registration drive by taking your voter reg forms and your P&F informational leaflets to any workingclass neighborhood in California and registering for P&F every chance you get. You will soon find that the more workingclass the person is, the more likely they will easily register for P&F. 2/3 of the adults in California did not vote at all in the last presidential election, and those non-voters were overwhelmingly workingclass, and most are citizens. The Democrat-Republicans have absolutely nothing to offer the workingclass and the workers know it.
This vote to commend Elaine Chao, Bush's Labor Secretary, is a good case on point. The Democratic Party of San Francisco, through its 9 members on the Board of Supervisors who are its loyal supporters, voted to support a reactionary Republican "Labor" secretary who opposes the minimum wage and affirmative action. Hitler also had "labor" secretaries. Clearly, this is not a labor secretary at all. We also have Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco supporting the anti-labor NAFTA trade agreement and Gov Gray Davis, Democrat, twice vetoing increases in Workers' Compensation benefits. This is just the tip of the iceberg, as anyone who follows the votes of the Democrats knows. The Democratic Party is a capitalist party just like the Republican Party, yet it pretends to represent labor. No party can represent both capital and labor, and the Democrats clearly represent capital and proudly support capitalism.
For the thousands of P&F members in California, now is the time to save your party so the workingclass can have some leadership in California as the economic crisis becomes sharper. Please call 510/465-9414 or 323/759-9737 for voter reg forms and informational leaflets. To date, leaflets available are: (1) Economic platform; (2) Environmental platform; (3) Gay Rights & Women's Rights Platform; (4) Criminal Justice Platform: Oppose Death Penalty & Support Mumia Abu-Jamal; (5) Democracy vs. Fascism: Election Fraud George Bush, Electoral College, US Senate and the Black Vote. More information on P&F can be found at the website: http://www.peaceandfreedom.org.
Register, register, register! For Peace & Freedom Party on the 2002 California ballot!

I am a socialist/anarchist in my heart, but I am an active Green and think that the Green Party is our best chance for immediate changes to start taking place. We are currently working busily on bringing public power (MUD) to SF and the state, fighting the corruption of the Brown machine, and one of the most valuable tools for the future- Instant Runoff Voting/Preference Voting & Proportional Representation, which will allow people to break away from the Republicrats and support more Green, P&F, Socialist...leaders. for more info on that check out: http://www.fairvote.org
As for the board vote to commend Chao, you failed to mention that the Green Supervisor was one of the 2 to vote against it.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
