Pacifica Wants Dialogue While Washington Station Remains Censored
Pacifica Board offers dialogue with no promises in debate between John Murdoch and Juan Gonzales. Washington station refuses to air debate...hypocricy reigns.
SF, CA March 16, 2001. Pacifica Board Member John Murdoch debated Juan Gonzales today on the Democracy Now! Radio program broadcast by KPFA in Berkely. Not all Pacifica stations carried the debate. The local Washington station refused to air the debate even though Mr. Murdoch repeatedly requested dialogue with all segments of local advisory boards and staff. To date, the Pacifica Board has made no attempt to rehire banned staff members or lift the current gag rule on discussions of by-law changes allowing a sale of the stations or Pacificas censorship practices.
Gonzales ended the debate by maintaining his commitment to removing the Pacifica Board. Mr. Murdoch offered dialogue but made no promises of any changes in the make up of the current Pacifica Board or changes in their policies or practices.
Mr. Murdoch works as a lawyer for an anti-union law firm which has offices in SF. Pickets take place by members of the community agains Mr. Murdochs firm and his proposed by law changes Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays from 12-1pm. Please see the http://www.Savepacifica.net website for more information and Mr. Murdochs phone number.
