UPDATE: Energy Crisis Teach-in, Santa Cruz on March 8
EMERGENCY TEACH-IN AND ORGANIZING MEETING ON THE ENERGY “CRISIS”

The growing movement for a People's Solution to the current energy "crisis" will manifest itself in Santa Cruz on March 8 at the Louden Nelson Community Center at 7 p.m. The meeting will begin with an educational panel. Following the panel, the meeting will break into working groups. These groups will strategize towards a local, sustainable solution to the failure of power deregulation in California.
FEATURED SPEAKERS AND TENTATIVE TOPICS:
Media Benjamin, Cofounder Global Exchange and former Green Party senatorial candidate will give a report on statewide organizing and actions
Graham Brownstein, Community Organizer for The Utility Reform Network (TURN) will present information on TURN’s statewide initiatives
Eric Wolfe, Communications Director of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1245 will discuss the effect of the failed deregulation on workers and IBEW’s initiatives
Len Beyea, Alliance for Democracy will discuss alternative energy systems and their costs
Joe Jordan, Ecology Action and NASA/Ames Research Center will discuss creating and funding alternative energy systems
Reed Addis, Fred Keeley staff member speaking on current legislation
(the assembly member has been invited, but it appears that he will not be attending.)
This is a call to ACTION! Come out if you are ready to begin organizing a dispersed and sustainable energy system that is locally based.
