Santa Rosa Energy 'Crisis' Teach-In, March 1st!
Energy Teach-In and Community Forum on PG&E, California History, Global Energy Picture, MUDs, and Renewables
The New College of California North Bay Campus will hold a california energy teach-in, open free to the public, on March 1st, 7-9 pm.
New College is located on 99 Sixth Street, Santa Rosa (off Wilson, near Railroad Square).
In the teach-in we hope to emphasize the following issues:
- Our historical relation to the power utilities, and how we got into the 'crisis'
- The big picture of global energy use, its effects socially and environmentally, and perspectives on the future
- Where we are now, and what can be done, including the establishment of MUDs and alternative power generation
Guest Panel:
Keith Rutledge, Director of the Renewable Energy Development Institute (REDI)
Barbara George, Executive Director, Women's Energy Matters
Gray Brechin, author of Imperial San Francisco: Urban Power, Earthly Ruin
Richard Heinberg, New College Core Faculty, will lead the discussion.

The New College North Bay Campus for Culture, Ecology, and Sustainable Community strives to educate for the creation of a just, sacred and sustainable world. our curriculum is an interdisciplinary exploration aimed at mobilizing students to be both literate and active in their pursuit of social change. New College also works to be a strong participant in Sonoma County politics and in our community. During evenings we host workshops, music, educational forums, political action meetings, theater, and documentary films.
