FTAA Action in SF: Start kicking!
Protests against the FTAA and globalization are getting started in anticipation of massive resistance planned in Quebec City for April.
Friday, February 23, 2001
4:30 pm at Market and Post (2nd St.)
outside Senator Feinstein's office
5:30 pm Procession
Join the Bay Area Coalition to Stop the FTAA, SF Zapatista Committee, and Colectivo Apoyo Latinamericano in a celebration of life without corporate rule and the kick-off of the Bay Area mobilization to stop the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA)--a trade agreement far worse than NAFTA that will optimize Global Capital's exploitation of people and planet in the entire Western Hemisphere! This event will include putting our elected officials on notice, a street party with dance, drums, music, theater, puppets, and spoken word, and a lively procession/corporate tour of shame along Market Street to the Flood Building at Powell, home of the Mexican Consulate, where we will celebrate our solidarity with the heroic Zapatistas who rose up against NAFTA and will be heading to Mexico City on Feb 25 to negotiate for the signing of the San Andrés Peace Accord.
