Subject: [publicpower] COME TO THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING, MONDAY, 2/12!

This Monday, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors will be discussing the creation of a Municipal Utilities District. This proposal is long overdue, and we should go there to show them our support for this measure. However, we also need to encourage them to act faster to mitigate the effects of the energy crisis on San Francisco's workers, students, and poor folks. They have the power to do this. We need to encourage them to use it. Here's how:

1) The Board should declare a State of Emergency and use the powers granted them by it to take over the PG&E owned electricity distribution system.

2) They should immediately repeal the rate hike approved by the PUC, and drop our power rates.

3) They should reinstate all of the workers laid off by PG&E and create a labor/community committee to administer the production and distribution of electricity in San Francisco.

Eight of us went to the Board meeting last Monday to do just that. We need to show this Board that we are serious.

Please come, Monday at 2PM to the Board of Supervisors Chamber at City Hall. The Public Comment section of the meeting starts closer to 3, but the discussion of the MUD will take place before then.
