MASS RALLY AT EPSTEIN, BECKER & GREEN OFFICES
Two Embarcadero Center, Suite 1650, San Francisco
SF BAY AREA RALLIES TO SUPPORT WBAI AND DEMAND THE RESIGNATION OF
PACIFICA RADIO BOARD MEMBERS WHO SUPPORTED THE WBAI TAKEOVER
One month after the takeover at WBAI in New York and firing of several
long-time WBAI producers, Media Alliance and the KPFA Steering Committee
call on Bay Area media activists to rally in solidarity with WBAI and
demand the resignation of Pacifica Foundation board member John Murdock,
an attorney with the union-busting law firm Epstein Becker & Green.
During the Christmas holidays, Pacifica Radio national managers
staged a takeover of WBAI in New York, changing the locks at
the station, firing the program director, and banning several
producers. The crackdown at WBAI--a repeat performance of Pacifica's
1999 attack on KPFA in Berkeley--is only the latest action of a board of
directors and national management that seem determined to eviscerate the
politics of the Pacifica Radio network.
