A "Coup" at Pacifica's WBAI in NYC

In the last 24 hours, Pacifica radio station WBAI has undergone what many listeners and activists have described as a coup with the appointment of a new interim station manager and the dismissal of program director, Bernard White, who has been threatened with arrest if he returns to the station office.

This sudden lock down and firing of our general manager has served to remind our diverse community of the danger and treachery afoot by the corporatized Pacifica National Board who now is about money and homegenized air time. WBAI 99.5 being prized real estate in the middle of the dial now has a price on its head.
But we are fighting back, not just WBAI, but listeners at the other Pacifica Stations. What provoked this recent assault was the recent revitalization of the LAB and the community at large which is organizing. Please join us to preserve alternate radio and free speech.
