Report from Seattle (N30)

by SF IMC Special Assignment
Thousands protest on anniversary of N30 in Seattle against globalization & police oppression.
At least a couple thousand protesters occupied the streets of Seattle today to protest globalization, capitalism and the Amerikkkan police state. After a tense stand-off that lasted for a few hours, certain protest "leaders" negotiated an end to the occupation, directing individuals to join a police-endorsed march to the Labor Temple. A splinter protest group, nervous about being abandoned, decided to march to Seattle Community College. The momentum of the march inspired protesters to continue past SCC and stage a sit-in in front of US Bank. At one point, an unprovoked attack on a marcher by the police stopped the march on 4th and Pine. A few arrests were made and protesters decided to stand their ground against the threat of continued police aggression. Police in full riot gear began to surround all exits from the intersection. A man on a bike who was singing "God I love free speech" was physically assaulted by police. A police lieutenant gave three orders to disperse, and against a literal army of robocops, the protesters decided to stay. The police, who were on horse and foot, then attacked the crowd with pepper spray and nightsticks. A small segment of the protest was isolated by this attack, and these people were pushed back three blocks until they were finally arrested and put on buses. Around 100 protesters who survived the attack re-grouped and continued their march. An enormous number of riot cops, in formation, tried to contain them as they headed towards the Labor Temple (again). Undercover cops, dressed as protesters, infiltrated all day. Police radio monitoring revealed that state highway patrols were being brought into Seattle and then bused to protest locations. Currently, we believe about 100 people were arrested.
