Women In Black Protest 11/25, Union Square

by me
Women in Black Protest
Saturday, November 25, 1-3pm
Union Square, Geary & Powell, SF

Wear Black! Bring signs, drums and noisemakers!
There is a war going on in the Middle East. On one side, Israel, one of the mightiest military powers in the world. On the other, Palestine, armed mostly with stones and slingshots. Over 180 people have been killed the vast majority of whom have been Palestinian - more than 50, children under the age of 15. more than 2000 Palestinians have been hospitalized, again a large number of whom are kids.

It is time for the killing to stop, for Israel to withdraw from the occupied territories and for all Palestinians to have the right to return to their homeland.

Women in Black was begun by Israeli women in 1988 as a powerful protest against occupation. For a dozen years Israeli and Palestinian owmen they have held a weekly vigil to demand an end to this injustice.

In May 1999, 500 women came to Union Square to stand up against both the US/NATO bombing of Yugoslavia and the oppression of the Kosovar Albanians. Join with the thousands of Jews and Palestinians who are demanding peace and an end to the continued US financial and political support for the policies of repression, displacement and murder in occupied Palestine. Let us join with women around the world who say "NO" to continued militarization and death.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
